Though I am prone to saying Facebook is the most popular and effective social media site for spa, salon, wellness businesses to get clients and reach their audience, this is in face not necessarily true. It's not untrue either though.
What? Let me explain.
What makes a social media site effective for your business (or not) is actually related to what your goals for that social media platform are and making sure the site(s) you are using are the best one(s) for reaching that goal. For example, if your primary goal is to improve or increase your communications with clients of your business, then Facebook is a perfect place for you to spend your time. However, if your primary reason for using social media is to get traffic to your website, then it may not be the best avenue for doing so.
